Specialty Work

The pieces that make people stay longer.

What it is

Scope

Specialty work is everything beyond the main structure and standard furnishings — freestanding and sensory play, sport surfaces and goals, outdoor fitness, spectator seating — the pieces that broaden who a space serves.

Phase Two Sites

Most get added in a second phase, into a site that's already finished, landscaped, and in use — which means tight access and a schedule built around whoever's already there.

Same Standard

Every component gets its own footing, anchoring, use zone, and fall height, the same as a full structure. An extra installed without that thinking is a compliance problem in a fun coat of paint.

How an addition goes in

  1. Site Assessment

We look at what's already there, who's using it, and where there's room. Then we flag the constraints — clearances, use zones, sightlines, access for the install itself.

  2. Component Selection

We help you choose what fits the space, the age groups you're actually serving, and the budget you have. Sometimes that means one well-placed component instead of four crowded ones.

  3. Installation

Footings, anchoring, assembly, and surfacing integration — to manufacturer spec, with correct use zones maintained around every component.

  4. Walkthrough

You walk the finished space with us. We cover how each component is meant to be used, what maintenance it needs, and hand off documentation.

What we install

Some sites need one of these. Some need all of them. We'll tell you which.

Gaga Ball Pits & 9-Square

In-ground and above-ground gaga pits and 9-square frames — high-participation, low-supervision, and consistently the most-used thing on a school site.

Freestanding Play

Spinners, climbers, balance components, and net structures that add play value where a full structure won't fit — each installed with its own use zone and surfacing.

Sensory & Musical Play

Outdoor chimes, drums, panels, and tactile components that make a space work for kids who don't climb — a core piece of a genuinely inclusive site.

Basketball & Sport Goals

Fixed and adjustable goals, half and full courts, with slab work and striping handled in-house.

Pickleball & Multi-Use Courts

Court construction, net posts, and striping, with fencing coordinated — including converting underused tennis and hard-court space.

Outdoor Fitness

Adult fitness clusters and trail-based stations, from bodyweight stations to accessible units, sited along walking routes.

Bleachers & Spectator Seating

Bleachers, dugouts, and shaded spectator areas installed to code with correct guardrails and access.

Dog Park Agility Components

A-frames, hoop jumps, weave poles, ramps, and tunnels — installed on pet-rated surfacing with proper spacing and anchoring. Part of a full dog park build-out.

Adding to an Existing Site

Adding to a finished site takes more care, not less.

These components almost always go into a site that's already built. Equipment has to reach the work area without tearing up turf or cracking a walkway, and surfacing has to be cut and patched so the repair doesn't read as one. Clearances that worked on an empty plan don't always work on a built site, so use zones get checked against what's already standing.

It also usually means working while the space stays open. We fence the work area, stage where it doesn't block access, and schedule around your calendar — summer windows for schools, off-hours or phased sections for parks and communities.

If the new component needs surfacing under it, we install that too.
